In our firm we have a wide range of technical skills, encompassing the leading internet, development and database technologies from Microsoft, Oracle, Sun (Java) and Open Source.

For our main AlphaPoint® range of solutions, we use the .Net, SharePoint and SQL Server platforms from Microsoft as the core technologies.

Internet Development

The AlphaPoint® Content Manager uses the .Net framework to provide the most robust and state of art web sites. The content can be held within a SQL compliant database, with Microsoft SQL Server as the database of choice.

We use other technologies such as PHP and ASP where appropriate, particularly in the integration of existing packages such as

Intranet Portal Development

We use SharePoint 2007 for the development of intranets and portals for our AlphaPoint® range of systems. Both the Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Services (MOSS) are available, depending on the requirements of the application and client.

We develop Web Parts and Features using .Net, C# and XSLT, and these are available separately for purchase.

Business Intelligence Software

AlphaPoint provides thin client, multi-tiered access via a web browser, allowing documents and images to be integrated into reports and the web portal, while also supporting more functionally rich analysis via Microsoft Office and advanced visualisation tools.

AlphaPoint uses the latest Microsoft business intelligence technology for a cost-effective and industry leading platform. The foundation is the SQL Server 2005/2008 product suite, incorporating Analysis Services and Integration Services.

Microsoft Excel Services, Reporting Services and PerformancePoint 2007 are used to produce enquiries, ad hoc and high quality reports which can be accessed via the Web browser within a SharePoint portal, or PDF and hard copy reports.

Data Warehouse Techniques

BBest data warehouse practises combine with our extensive knowledge of the investment sector to produce a truly innovative solution which integrates, manages, analyses and distributes consistent, accurate information. All data is managed within a unified data model to provide a user-friendly, consistent view across functions.

Business logic and analytics are stored centrally in an industry standard format to ensure consistency of output across all media. AlphaPoint uses Analysis Services to combine the flexibility and modelling capabilities normally associated with spreadsheets with a robust and scalable database platform. This allows the system to adapt readily to differing investment styles. While common analyses and performance indicators are provided, there is the ability to define extra custom and proprietary analytics.

Good quality data is always the key to good quality information. No matter how powerful the presentation, or advanced the analytics, without the right inputs it doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Data quality is primarily defined by the accuracy, timeliness, completeness and consistency. This means taking the best sources available, as efficiently as possible, and reconciling them.

AlphaPoint integrates data from multiple sources, internal or external, and can consolidate, refine and normalise the underlying data to help ensure the quality of the resulting information provided. Naturally, interfaces for standard data sources such as market data feeds are built-in, while templates are provided for internal data sources where customisation may be required.
